AI in Marketing: Good Briefings, Better Examination

AI can support brainstorming, drafting texts, and structuring existing information. However, quality doesn't depend on a single magic formula. The task, the provided context, the tool, and subsequent testing all work together.

A good prompt is therefore more of a useful briefing than a secret trick. It describes the desired result and makes it clear what a draft will be measured against. For companies, what ultimately counts is a usable, tested output.

Which task is suitable for a start?

Choose a limited task whose outcome you can professionally assess. For example, an existing, approved briefing can be converted into an initial list of topics. A task where the team itself cannot determine whether the answer is correct is more difficult.

Confidential customer information and personal data should not be shared with external services without verification. Clarify which materials may be processed with which tools. A conveniently available input form does not replace this decision.

A briefing with clear components

ComponentExample specification
TaskDevelop three approaches to a specific customer question
Target groupMarketing managers with limited internal production time
BasisApproved service description and known Objections
LimitationsNo fabricated figures, customers, or promises of success
OutputEach idea includes an introduction, a key message, and required documentation.
ReviewClarity, factual accuracy, and relevance to the offer

This is a working structure, not a universal standard. Depending on the task, different information may be more important. A job description alone doesn't provide expertise or reliable sources.

Example: From a vague request to a testable task

"Write something viral" leaves open the question of who the content is intended for and what its purpose is. A more specific task would be: Develop three different introductions to the question of how a team organizes approvals before a Content Day. Use only the provided information and highlight any missing details.

Next, check whether each introduction creates a plausible expectation and whether the planned content fulfills it. A particularly striking formulation isn't automatically the best if it misrepresents the offer.

Testing remains a separate task

Check numbers, names, quotes, and sources against the original. A plausibly formulated sentence is not yet proof. Also check whether the text omits important conditions or presents recommendations as established facts.

For website content, Google emphasizes helpful, reliable information rather than content primarily generated for rankings: Google Search CentralA large amount of automatically generated text does not replace editorial responsibility.

How does the team learn from the drafts?

Note typical errors and specifically improve the task definition. If terms are regularly used incorrectly, a clear foundation may be lacking. If the texts remain too general, more concrete examples or a more specific question are needed.

Keep good, approved examples for guidance, but do not blindly transfer them to other offers. A team workshop can provide practical experience in this process.
